About the Founder
Hey, I’m Scarlett, the 18 year old founder behind Sunchaser Clothing.
Born and raised on the east coast of Australia in Newcastle, the ocean has always been my happy place. I grew up surfing, exploring up and down the coastline, and spending as much time in the water as possible. That deep connection to the ocean is at the heart of Sunchaser and where so much of my inspiration comes from, especially when it comes to hand drawn prints and functional, surf ready designs.
When I’m not working on Sunchaser, you’ll usually find me surfing, travelling or with my dog Rosie by my side. This brand truly is my pride and joy, bringing together all the things I love most.
I launched Sunchaser Clothing in October 2020, shortly after turning thirteen. What started as beach inspired clothing and jewellery quickly grew into something much bigger. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to create a brand that did not just make cute pieces, but one that respected and gave back to the environment that inspires it all.
In 2021, I noticed a real gap in the market for sustainable swimwear that actually performs in the surf. I wanted swim that stayed on, felt supportive, and moved with you in the water without compromising on style or sustainability. That is when the idea for Sunchaser’s sustainable swimwear was born.
The Journey
In August 2021, I began designing Sunchaser’s first sustainable swimwear collection using recycled plastics. From sampling to fit testing, every piece was thoughtfully developed to ensure it could handle real surf conditions while still being flattering, comfortable, and durable.
In March 2022, after months of learning, testing, and countless challenges, The Daydreamer Collection launched. Seeing my hand drawn designs come to life and then being embraced by such an incredible community was a true pinch me moment and confirmed everything I hoped Sunchaser could become.
At 16, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life and left Year 11 to go all in on Sunchaser. I put every bit of my time, energy, and savings into the brand, moved to the Gold Coast, and committed fully to growing it. That leap taught me more than any classroom ever could and marked a huge turning point in Sunchaser’s growth.
Today, Sunchaser is a surf led, sustainability focused swimwear label designed for women who live for the ocean, adventure, and sunchasing. We create small, intentional collections using recycled fabrics, focusing on quality, longevity, and pieces that truly perform in and out of the water.
Thank you for supporting Sunchaser. It honestly means the world to me and I cannot wait to share what is next.
Keep Sunchasing
Scarlett xx
